New Home

We have some very excited news; we bought a new house… And I have to be honest, I just love it.

We have been in our current home for the last 10 years. We built it before our kids were born. It is a great house, has two of the bedrooms downstairs where the master bedroom is. It worked out great when we had babies and not had to go and up and down the stairs. When kids got a little older we started to wish for other things; bigger yard, less busy street, more trees, older neighborhood, etc. But we never really considered selling our home and look for a new one. Until…

Until a real estate agent knocked on our door and asked if we were interested in selling our house. Wow, that was an interesting moment. We ended up not selling our house but decided to look for our “dream house” with the intention of selling ours. We started to drive around neighborhoods and mark the ones that we liked on a map. And we hired the real estate agent that showed up at our door. We started to spend few hours every Saturday to go see houses or neighborhoods. In the meantime our agent was walking though the neighborhoods that we liked and asking people if they were interested in selling their houses. After several weeks, we saw the house that we ended up buying. It was going to go on the market the next day but we had a chance to preview it since our agent knocked on their door few days before. We ended up making an offer the same day.

The previous owners are wonderful people with older kids. They are relocating to another city. The house is larger than what we have; in a great neighborhood, in the same school district, has an incredible back yard, and in short our “dream house” that we can spend the next several years.

Now it is time to make it our home. We have already closed on the house and the previous owners are moving out in a week. Although we loved the layout of the house and the yard, we have decided to make some improvements to the house. Since both I and my husband work, we decided to hire a contractor to manage the process. We are in the process of evaluating different contractors now. We will not be moving in until late February. I have a feeling that I will be writing a lot about our home improvement adventures.
