Open house...

Last Thursday was open house at kid's school. My husband was out of town but I got to see all the fun things that kids have been working on...

Valentines day parties...

On Valentines day, both kids had parties at their school. The got dressed in reds took their valentine treats and headed to school after a good breakfast. Since I knew they would be eating candy and sweets all day, I made a point of making eggs for breakfast...

Oh my, do I see some hugging going on... That must have been a total mistake...
I told Korman that was a very "cool" sister hug. He seemed to take pride in that...

Korman - finally the citizen of the month...

This has been a tough year for Korman at school. He has been having hard time to focus and listen sometimes and once in a while gets in trouble for talking too much, not paying attention, etc. He is doing great academically but seems to take his time to adjust socially. We are very lucky; he has had great teachers that truly understood how boys mature differently than girls.

When he was announced as one of the citizens of the month few weeks ago, he was ecstatic, and we were just so happy for him. He came home and told name that he cried when they announced his name, he was that happy....You can imagine how thrilled I was for him.

We went to have the Principal's breakfast and enjoyed muffins and OJ.

The big sister was also there to support and congratulate him...

It was a proud and lovely morning... He is growing into a wonderful and caring boy...

Korman and kisses...

There is a constant kiss alert in our household in the last few weeks.
Korman lost both of his front teeth.
The way he talks is sooo cute, every conversation ends with me catching him, squeezing him tight and giving him a kiss.

Each time I am going for the hug, he says something like "I know you are gonna kiss me..." with a short sigh.
But at least he does not resist it, right?
I am thinking he must like it...
I don't think it matters too much if he likes it or not, he is just irresistable...

Korman the pirate....

Korman lost two teeth in the last couple of weeks. One from the bottom and one from the top. Since he looks so adorable every time he smiles, he has been getting a lot more hugs and kisses from everyone in the family. Major cuteness alert...

 Even Sude, AKA the cool sister, keeps turning to me frequently with an "awwww" sound every time the pirate Korman talks...

Korman starts soccer again...

With the school, kid's activities also started. Korman is doing taekwondo, soccer, and swimming. Sude is doing gymnastic, hip hop dance, and swimming. And they both do piano... We are actually quite lucky and we live very close to most of the activities... I only have to drive for piano and swimming. And they are both by choice. Although there are closer teachers and swim places, we really like the ones that we have...

Here is my boy playing soccer for the 3rd year all dressed up for the first game. He has not yet scored a goal in a game (ever) but he has great spirit and he is a great team player... ;-)

He is such a cutie...

Green belt...

We will be heading overseas in a week or two for the summer. Korman has been trying really hard to get his next belt before we leave. Any finally it happened. He passed with flying colors. He has a green belt now...

Green striped belt...

It seems lately most of my posts are about Korman. He has been a busy boy for sure. He got his green striped belt few weeks ago. He did really good and broke a board with a kick. Even the master was laughing at his as he was talking about alligators and all kinds of other stuff in the belt test. You would think he would be a tad bit nervous.

Apparently not...

He passed in flying colors...

And not talking about "not going to taekwondo" again...

A little accident...

Korman had a little accident last Friday and slammed the car door to his hand. It was pretty sad to see him so much pain but he is much better now. No broken bones. just swelling and bruising. I am not sure if he will loose his nail but I am glad the finger was not broken. He is a tough cookie... Well, kind of a touch cookie... The kind that cries himself to sleep after he had a boo - boo...

Wise words from Korman...

Anyone who knows Korman would get a kick out of his latest comments. Him and I were alone in the car, driving to swimming class. He was holding his favorite ever matchbox car, inspecting every piece of it, again...

All of a sudden from the back...

"Made in China, again... Made in China... Mom, everything we have is made in China. Anything that is not living is made in China. Only, like trees are not made in China. I looked one day to all of my toys in the game room (which is not suprising at all if you know Korman... He has that kind of patience), and all of them were made in China...

It is just amazing the observations that they make. The things that we take for granted amazes them... I just loved it... I went to explain why that might be with a slight smile on my face...

Wise words from Korman...

Couple of days ago Korman and I were going to one of his activities. I have told him that he was a smart, cute, and handsome boy.

He made the following comment from the back of the car very serious...

"My smartness comes from my brain, my cuteness comes from my skin, and my handsomeness comes from my clothes."

I kept smiling to myself for the rest of the 20 minute drive...

Korman is learning ice skating...

The week after Christmas, Korman went to to a 3 day ice skating class. He was a good sport and did not complain. He had a little hard time to move from one side of the rink to the other but he was very happy. That is one of the things that I love about him, he is just content with where he is... I am not sure if he is ready to go to the rink with Sude when we are at the mall. There is always next year...

Korman's restaurant...

Since grandma is here there are lots of games happening in our house. Couple of days ago I realized this sign at the door of the game room. I had to take a picture of it.
"This is a wonderful restaurant!" and apparently Korman was a wonderful host serving grandma all kinds of food.

Korman's Thanksgiving Feast...

Korman's kindergarten class had a Thanksgiving Feast last week. I have experience with this lunch event since Sude had it last year with the same teacher. I was one of the volunteers that helped with the preparations. There were 4 stations where kids made sweet potato casserole, fruit salad, cranberry salad, corn, and stuffing/pumpkin pie. School provided the turkey, mashed potato, and buns.

I was in charge of the sweet potato casserole station where kids mashed potatoes, added butter and brown sugar, and put marshmallows on top with incredible precision.

After all the work, some moms took the food home to baked them. Kids played outside while we cleaned the classroom and setup the tables with the place mats and decorations that the kids made. They wore the t-shirts that they decorated themselves.Then we all had lunch together. Sude also joined us for lunch...

It was a fun morning. I got to meet some of the other moms and got to spend some time with my favorite boy...

Korman's monster bash...

When we completed the first 9 weeks of school, we got to go and see the school assembly. Kindergartners put on a show that was called "Monster Bash". I love our school. It is small and it is filled with wonderful teachers and involved parents.

Then we got the first report cards of the year... Both kids did great, way to go...

Korman's first goal...

Few weeks ago, Korman had a week day soccer game. It was after work and I thought it was a great opportunity to take some pictures. To my delight, Korman scored his first ever goal in an "official" game. I think I was more excited than him. They lost the game but it was for sure a night to remember...
