Mudroom update

When we started to look for a new house, I found out about the concept of a mudroom. It was like a little light bulb went on in my head. All the “stuff” that sits all around the living room, kitchen counters all of a sudden had a proper place. Backpacks, jackets, shoes, slippers, stacks of magazine, papers, school projects, gifts for friends, stuff to return to the store, ironing board, cell phone charges, etc, etc… I am big on simplifying my life this year. That’s my motto…I quickly zoned into the idea of having a tidy and nice living area without clutter and organize my life better.

Well… The house that we bought did not have a mud room, but had a decent place to put one in. When we started the home renovations, the place for the current mudroom was the 3rd car garage.
It had a workbench area and an old sink at the corner.

First, all the cabinets were cleared and a room was made off of the garage.

Then we opened up a door between the mudroom and the laundry room.
We removed the sink from the laundry room to make space for the door with the intention of putting the sink in to the mud room.

Then the beautiful tile was laid. It was odd looking at the beginning but after the grout was put in, it looks phenomenal.

Then the cabinets came in. I ended up having a desk area for myself. I have higher workbench style countertops on both sides of the desk with lots of cabinets. On the left we put a large coat closet. On the right side we have the locker style cabinets. My treadmill will be next to the coat cabinet with a TV bolted to the wall.
After the paint and the counter tops it is a completely different room. The window will also be changed in the next couple of days.
I love the locker cabinets. There is still work to do but it is certainly coming together. The cabinet handles and the hooks are already there but I failed to take a picture after that.

I will give an update when it is completed totally. I cannot wait to move in and enjoy my new home.
