Washington DC - Day 2

We have started the second day with a trip to the White House. One of my co-worker's brother works at the White House and he was nice enough to get us  a tour of the East Wing. The security was pretty tight. No bags of any kind, cameras, strollers, etc are allowed. The only thing that is allowed is your cell phone.

We had to make a trip from the hotel to the White House first, and then take the metro back to the hotel to get our stuff. I had done this tour 10 years ago when the security was not as tight and you could get a ticket if you get up early enough. Now, things are very different.

I loved the pictures on the walls of the White House of the president and the first lady. I have asked if the staff does see their kids but they all said that they never see them, even though they live upstairs. It must be so hard for them to live as a family and raise their kids. I have once more appreciated the president and first lady on how they protect their kids and try to give them a normal life.

We have no pictures of the White House visit since cameras were not allowed. We have one in Cem's cell phone but not sure where that is now...

From the hotel (which was a walking distance to the Capitol), we walked by the Capitol building to the Air and Space Museum. We spent the rest of the day there. It was so much fun and so many things to do.

We watched the movie about how our planet was born (Korman's words) in the dome theather.

For dinner, we went to China Town. We had great food that was affordable and plenty...
