The second day of our trip, we woke up to the smell of breakfast. The place that we stayed was owned by a couple who lived in Istanbul in the winter and on the island in the summer. The lady made breakfast for all the guests in the morning with few helpers.
This part of Turkey is famous with it's jams. They make jams from everything; figs, oranges, plums, berries, and even tomatoes. It was a wonderful sight...
They also made eggs any way you like it, right there in the outdoors kitchen. We tried this one with herbs that are specific to this part of Turkey.
This was was my plate. She also made savory cookies with black olives and carrot cake. We sat outside and enjoyed our tea under the olive trees. Korman was so thrilled with the jam, he drank it like a juice from tiny cups.
Then we headed to town to see the castle and do some sight seeing. In our road trips we try to keep the sight seeing to the morning when it is cooler and spend the rest of the day at the beach. This makes our days more relaxed and less demanding on the kids.
The town was so cute and unique. It had small streets filled with restaurants and cafes. They were mostly empty since it was morning. We just strolled around and enjoyed looking at the way each place was decorated...
Then we found a cute cafe to have our morning Turkish coffee...It was an art gallery and cafe at the same time...
Kids had homemade lemonade...
Then we headed to the beach. There were small waves which delighted the kids. They spent hours jumping in the water. There was a restaurant right behind where we rented an umbrella and we had our lunch there...
Fried eggplant with tomato sauce, garlic yogurt sauce with herbs, stuffed zucchini flowers, bread, calamari, shrimp, and beer. What else I could ask for...
After spending the rest of the day at the beach, we went to watch the sun set. There are a lot of wind mills in the island since it gets lots of wind. They said one of them powers the entire island and the rest of the power goes back to the main land.
What a great way to end the day... Red wine and sunset...
